Sofia Salazar

Sofia Salazar is Manager of Intelligence at Hetherington Group where she monitors and assesses intelligence on international risks, evaluates trends in global security issues, and develops analytic products to improve the intelligence collection and analysis capabilities of the team. Sofia leverages a mix of OSINT and SOCMINT tools to make rapid decisions about ongoing incidents, frequently before they are reported by mainstream news, as well as to locate exposures of PII online and remove them.

Sofia holds a M.A. in Criminology from The George Washington University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Haven in December 2021 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and National Security Studies with a minor in Russian Studies. Sofia was the first recipient of the OSMOSIS Open Source Rising Star of the Year Award after providing intelligence on the Port of Beirut explosion 10 minutes before the situation made breaking news, all while leading an intelligence analysis internship program. She was OSMOSIS conference emcee in 2023, and prior to that, received a Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award under the Obama administration (2015) and later the Trump administration (2016).
